Flight prices vary significantly depending on which airport you choose.  San Juan International Airport, San Juan Isla Grande Airport, and Ceiba Airport have flights daily to/from Vieques.   See airlines pictures above.

The ferry terminal is located in Ceiba, a 1 hour drive East of San Juan International Airport.  A passenger ticket is $2 per adult.  Children and seniors pay no more than $1.  It's a 30 minute ride via the Puerto Rico Fast Ferries.  Click on ferry for schedule and updates

There are two ways to get to Vieques, Puerto Rico: by air or by sea. Here’s everything you need to know about how to reach the island.

Flights to Vieques, Puerto Rico

The fastest, easiest and most reliable way to get to Vieques is by plane. Several airlines fly to Vieques (VQS) from San Juan, Isla Grande and Ceiba on the main island of Puerto Rico, as well as from neighboring islands like Culebra, St. Thomas and St. Croix. The trip offers breathtaking bird’s-eye views of the Caribbean Sea. Each plane carries up to 7 passengers, so be sure to book ahead of time to guarantee your seat.

Keep in mind that most Vieques-bound airlines charge extra for luggage that weighs more than 25 pounds. The surcharge is typically $1 per pound above the limit.

Several large airlines offer the option to book your Vieques connection as part of your initial reservation. That way, your luggage is automatically transferred, saving you the trouble of leaving the terminal, trekking to the baggage claim and waiting on another security line.

From San Juan International Airport (SJU) to Vieques Airport (VQS)

It takes about 30 minutes to fly from SJU to Vieques, Puerto Rico.

From Isla Grande Airport (SIG) to Vieques Airport (VQS)

Flights from Isla Grande, Puerto Rico to Vieques take approximately 17 minutes. The Isla Grande airport is about a 10-minute car ride from San Juan International airport (SJU). The Puerto Rico Tourism Company has a kiosk outside of SJU baggage claim to provide information and transportation service. Taxi vans in Puerto Rico are called publicos and can seat up to 9 people. Cabs cost about $20 per carload.

From Ceiba Airport (RVR) to Vieques Airport (VQS)

Ceiba is about a 50-minute drive from San Juan and a taxi will charge approximately $50-70 per carload.

Flights from Ceiba, Puerto Rico to Vieques take about 7 minutes.

Ferries to Vieques, Puerto Rico

Ferries run several times a day between Ceiba, Puerto Rico and Vieques. Ceiba is located 37 miles southeast of San Juan. Driving from San Juan to Cieba takes about an hour, and cabs cost roughly $50-70.

Ferry tickets cost $2 per person. If you buy online an online fee and taxes are assessed.

Ferries typically take about an hour and a half to reach Vieques, but the duration can vary based on weather conditions. Ferries often depart later than scheduled. Vieques residents get priority when the boat is full, so visitors might get bumped to a later trip or the next day during particularly busy travel times.
